Very interesting read, Leigh. I work for a well-known hospital in my city and when people discover that the next question is usually "Oh, are you a nurse?" Well, no, I work in Information Services on the Web Development team ... not something people relate to hospital work. I'll bet your IS people can identify with that. The Web presence of your Zoo is very important, though, and it's how much of the public gets to know you. We are all part of the whole entity, whether it be a Zoo, a Hospital, a School or any other business. We all contribute to making it a better place! Thanks for what you do.

While we can't help you be a kid again, the Houston Zoo does offer a variety of behind-the-scenes tours with opportunities to meet some of our animals up close and personal. Check out http://www.houstonzoo.org/events/tours/behind/ for more information!

"Of course, no animal is guaranteed to be visible on every visit. Even if you know where to look, you might still miss the animal if it is off exhibit or hiding especially well when you visit." Cracks me up when people think that you will see every animal. I'd suggest going early in the morning or at night, that's when the majority of animals will be more active. Your zoo looks fantastic! I can't wait to visit. So far I've only been to the Oklahoma and San Diego Zoos.
