About Rachel Rommel
My name is Rachel and I work in the Conservation Department at the Houston Zoo. I have a special interest in Texas native animals, especially of the scaly and slimy persuasion…turtles, toads and salamanders are my true loves. However, you can often catch me daydreaming about black bears as well. I participate in and help facilitate the Zoo’s Texas based conservation efforts such as with Diamondback terrapins, Sea turtles, Houston toads, east Texas reptile research and black bear education. When I am not in the field, you can find me slaving away at the computer on a variety of tasks or cheerleading our “green initiatives” at the Zoo.
